Once upon a time, a hen lived with her two baby chicks named Lalu and Peelu. Lalu's name meant 'red' because he was red in colour, and he loved to eat things that were red. Peelu's name meant 'yellow', and he loved to eat yellow things. One day, Lalu saw a bright red thing on a plant. Without thinking, he ate it up! Oh no! It was a red chilly, and it was very, very hot. Lalu's mouth started to burn, and he began to cry loudly. His mother hen came running to him. Peelu also came. Peelu was smart; he knew exactly what to do. He quickly ran and brought a big piece of yellow jaggery (gur). He knew jaggery is sweet and would help with the burning. Lalu gobbled up the jaggery. The sweetness of the jaggery soothed his burning mouth, and he felt much better. The mother hen was so happy and relieved. She hugged and kissed Lalu, and then she kissed Peelu for being so quick and helpful.
